Joseph

In nativity plays up and down the country (at least in normal years!) Joseph is a largely silent character. More ambitious productions may include the scene between Joseph and the Angel, found in Matthew's Gospel, but often his role is to lead the donkey and stand silently behind Mary as she welcomes strange and unusual guests to the make-shift crib.

But what might Joseph have made of the whole scene?
Here, we hear Joseph's Tale.

David Scarth is the Church Warden of the small village church in Wookey Hole. In this reflection he invites us to look beyond the school nativity version of Joseph to see the skilled craftsman who was trusted to bring up God's son.
