Liam writes:
"This is the first of three chorale preludes by J.S. Bach on the Lutheran hymn Nun Komm, der Heiden Heiland, and comes from his set of Eighteen Leipzig Chorale Preludes.
Saviour of the heathen, come,
Virgin’s Son, here make Thy home.
Wonder at it, heav’n and earth,
That the Lord chose such a birth.
This prelude is a mystical, brooding meditation, heavy with longing for the coming of the Saviour. The ornamented chorale melody, of almost unbearable poignancy, ends with a sublime cadenza."
